Default NJ/PA/NY March Madness Make and Take-March 24th

Greetings all, following on the heels of yesterdays fun event, it's time to pick the date for March. I'd be most available on either the 24th or the 31st, both are Saturdays.

I should also mention that working on the pneumatic prop won't be the main item for this one. Let's hear some ideas on the next project.

March 24th or the 31st looks good for me. I thought I might throw this in the mix, but what about a bottomless pit? We could make it a two part project? If that doesn't work than how about something small like a infinity mirror? I figure if I got the concept of a infinity mirror than I could go bigger on my own and make the bottomless pit. Anyone else interested in that project. Remember you could use it for so many different scenes.

Sharon, I think you may want to look into the cost of the plexiglass and reflective materials required for that first. Unless someone has come up with a better way I remember that project as being very expensive.
I got a text from Karen saying that the 24th has her vote.

IIRC, the reflective material goes for around $20+ at a Home Depot or Lowe's but around $10 online. The really expensive item is the Plexiglas. My local Lowe's has them priced at $27 for a 2'x4' sheet.

I had looked into doing one of these last year, but I wanted to do one about 6' or 7' sized to have an "endless hallway." Needless to say it was a rather expensive proposition.

I had found some very large old storm windows I was going to use instead of Plexiglas, but Hurricane Irene, I think it was, busted them up. Which I guess points out the risk and danger of using actual glass instead of the Plexi sort.

we can make some of the new led spots like the ones I made at the last meeting. We are going to need to order more leds for that anyway so maybe we should get a group buy together. A spider drop would also be a cool prop

We have Averys 5th bday the weekend of the 31st, so that is out for me.
24th is my preference.

Rich, you have to stop buying sh@t at home despot.
Buy plexi from a plastic supply house, here in NJ there are many.
They usually will have a cut charge for pieces less than full sheet.

IF you want to get a full sheet and think to cut yourself, you will need a specialty blade, which runs about $80 per.
Without it, plastic sheet usually will chip, stress fracture or burn.
I own a few, unfortunately, they are in Cleveland with my old table saw.

Fever has my brain still addled, so I am no help with project suggestions.
Gotta mull on it when my head isnt thumping.

Since there are four for the 24th already and Rich and Corey didn't say no, lol, I've added the date of the 24th to the thread header.

As for projects, I'd love to do a few of Joe's new LED spots, they were awesome. I'd need to see a link to the dropping spider.
I'd also like to make flicker circuits at some point, I need em bad.
