Default Making a statue ...

I've been itching to build an Annubis statue, and our new house has an 11' high garage. Wouldn't it be awesome to have an Annubis in the corner as the TOTs come strolling in? My kid actually came home with a 9" high Annubis yesterday from a museum and it would be the perfect model for this project.

But, how should I build it? My first thought is to use PVC for the bones and pool noodles to flesh it out. The noodles would need extra foam in places to mimic the contours of regular arms & legs, and I guess I could then wrap the flesh in chicken wire, fiber/drywall tape, and then monster mud it. Does this sound like a plan?

Adding extra foam is something I can't quite figure out. What would be the best way to add some bulk so that it looks right and will stick?

That's incredible! Hot wire CNC foam cutting ... you can build any kind of prop with it. Wow ... you just rocked my world. Thanks!

But, I've got a ton of PVC and pool noodles that need to get used up somehow ...

JustJimAZ, those are nice! (Though I wouldn't look forward to having to store them)
What are you going to use those for?
I wonder if you could easily flatten DXF models and convert them to vector art, if you could it would allow you to use your setup to carve all kinds of interesting objects and creatures that are already available from various 3-D graphics programs, CAD programs, etc.

I used pool noodles, chicken wire and monstermud for my twin statues and they turned out really well 9the chicken wire is great for mold arms waists and legs). I can't wait to see your progress.
