Default Early Summer Make and Take

Rain or shine, I will be doing a make in take in late June or early July at my new place. I will have a garage to work in, so no project is off the table!

Who has some ideas on a project to work on? Let's also start talking about dates.

The earliest I think I can support this is the last weekend in June.

Thanks Dave! It'll be great to see your new digs.

As if our busy schedules aren't difficult enough to coordinate, one new complication to scheduling our M&Ts is the Garage of Evil Workshop schedule (http://www.garageofevilnetwork.com/p...le-announced-1). Just throwing it out there, because I'll probably attend the June 30 workshop.

As far as project ideas go, here are two ideas, one simple, one complicated:
  • Simple: foam tombstone carving with faux moss made from dryer lint.
  • Complex: flying crank ghost (FCG). The major downside to this as a M&T project is that if you build an aluminum frame, this can be pricey. I've obtained all the parts for my first FCG, but haven't start the construction yet. But from what I've read on the web, the cutting, drilling, and frame assembly is only half the battle. Fine-tuning the wires and motor to ensure good, fluid motion takes some effort, it seems. Talking through some "lessons learned" from people who have already built on would be very helpful for those of us who have not.

My experience with this is if you follow the Phantasmechanics plans, you're golden.

As far as I know the Phantasmechanics web site has been down for years. I guess you're showing your age Zombie-F! I used these instruction from deathlord.net (now creepcrafters.com) to build my FCG. The one thing I like about these plans is that you can fold-up the rig to make it easier to store.

Wow, I guess I am! It's been a long time since I went to the Phantasmechanics site. It's kind of sad to see it's gone.

I did find a PDF version of their plans online though:

Thanks for the links, guys - much appreciated. I'm hoping to start assembly on the FCG frame either this weekend or next.

So, is anyone interested in trying to get together for a make and take?

Have I ever missed a make and take? Although I already have a FCG and I cut all my tombstones on a bandsaw. If I go I could always just bring other things to work on.

Still not sure what project at this point. FCG was tossed out there. I already have one, but I'd love to re-build the marionette for it and could help out anyone who would like to build their own motor platform and marionette.
