Default Frozen Dead Guy Days 2009!!!

Sorry - I'm really late in posting this.

Today begins Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland, Colorado.



Friday, March 6

3:00pm – 7:00pm
Join us and kick off your weekend in the Wild Mountain & Avery 6 Feet Under Beer Tent in Chipeta Park with microbrew beer and Live Music, as well as Grandpa's Gift Shop and food vendors.

The Festival Tent is sponsored by Wild Mountain Brewery and Avery Brewery, featuring *6 Feet Under ESB* brewed by Wild Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery.

7:00pm
Frozen Dead Guy Days Opening Ceremony in the Nederland’s roundabout.

7:00pm - 8:30pm
Ghost Stories

8:00pm - 12:00am
ICE BLUE BALL with Grandpa Look-alike and Ice Queen Costume Contests
Halden Wofford and the High Beams (Rocky Mountain HonkyTonk) at the Black Forest Restaurant, Nederland, CO


10:00pm - 10:30pm
Grandpa Look-alike and Ice Queen costume contests
Purchase Tickets at the door (online registration is closed)

12:00am
Midnight Champagne Tour with the Ice Man Spend the witching hour with the Frozen Dead Guy himself and hear his tale.
Location: find Bo, The Ice Man at the Ice Blue Ball. He'll be wearing a red and white striped stocking cap like Waldo. Must have your own transportation. Fee negotiable.



Saturday, March 7

8:00am - 11:00am
Event Day Registration - Registration for the coffin races, polar plunge and parade will begin at 8am at the Teen Center located at the east end of First Street at Barker Reservoir.

8:00am - 10:00am
FDGD Pancake Breakfast - Pancakes and more! Eggs and sausage, coffee and juice will be served alongside all you can eat pancakes for the whole family. Warm your belly for your day outdoors!

8:00am – 11:00am
Parade, Polar Plunge and Coffin Race last minute registration in the Teen Center.

11:00am – 7:00pm
Wild Mountain & Avery 6 Feet Under Beer Tent open in Chipeta Park. With beer from Wild Mountain Brewery and Avery Brewery, Live Music, as well as Grandpa's Gift Shop and food vendors.

11:00am – 4:00pm
Grandpa's in the Tuff Shed. Watch the award-winning Grandpa's in the Tuff Shed short film.

11:00am - 4:00pm
Costume and Portrait Studio - Capture your Frozen Dead Guy Days adventure with costumes, make-up and photos at Hands On Costume and Portraits.

Noon FDGD Cryonics Parade starts up First Street from the Nederland Teen Center.

1:00pm - 2:00pm
Charity Polar Plunge at kids' pond in Chipeta Park. Take the plunge.

2:00pm - 3:00pm
Coffin Races at Chipeta Park. Up to 30 teams race with a coffin and final team member in tow through a course full of obstacles, mud, snow, playground slides. Who will be the first cross the finish line?
Win $200 cash prize for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third.

2:00pm - 5:00pm
Frozen Dead (& Living) Poets Society The Frozen Dead Poets Society will be presenting a "Buy a Ticket, Hear a Poem".

3:00pm - 3:30pm
Final Heats of the 2009 Coffin Races

3:30pm - 7:00pm
Live Music at the Wild Mountain & Avery 6 Feet Under Beer Tent in Chipeta Park.

4:30pm
Frozen Doughball Toss - Throw a "blue ball" through a life size cutout of Grandpa.

5:30pm
Pack Your Pants - How much snow can you pack in a pair of pants? Located on W. First Street at Bears Brothers Bistro (across from the Visitor's Center). Most snow stuffed wins a prize.

6:30pm
Frozen T-shirt Contest - Put on a frozen t-shirt after getting the shirt to thaw enough to put it on!

6:30pm - 1:00am
Grandpa's Pub Crawl, featuring Live Music



Sunday, March 8

3:00pm Beach Volleyball Tournament

3:00pm Blue Ball Eating Contest - Race to eat as many rocky mountain
oysters as possible. 1st prize wins $100, prizes for 2nd & 3rd places. $10 entry fee, inlcudes a beer.

5:00pm
Closing Ceremony of 2009 Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland’s roundabout.

It's heartwarming to know that loons and wackos can come up with an idea that an entire city can celebrate. Especially if the people that originated it actually believe it; that adds so much to the ridiculousness. Everybody's so g-damned serious and depressing nowadays... something like this is what we need. Laughter is the best medicine.

I think that is great! I wish we had frozen dead guy here in Jersey. Well we most likely do, but we don't celebrate it.
