Default Clear screen button in GC?

What happened to the clear screen button? Also how do you change the background? I just want it to be a single color.

I disabled the background changing option because the ability to change text colors was rendering it impossible for some people to read the text based on their background selections.

I felt the clear screen feature was sort of unnecessary. Is there a reason you would need it?
