Default Where to hang FCG?

Ok, so I admit I had a bit of a blonde moment. I should be finished with my FCG this week and I was originally planning on hanging it in one bay of my garage behind a false wall/window I was going to make. Well it recently occurred to my that with the garage door up, the door itself would be between the ghost and the ceiling. I realize this is quite obvious, but it just occurred to me that this would be a problem.

So I need some help figuring our where I should put it. I only have one window in the front, a bay window that I board up. I don't mind taking off the boarding but the ceiling on the inside is also a bay so there is about a foot difference from the bay to the normal ceiling. I would have to put the FCG about 3 feet back from the window to have it mount flat. Is that too far back to see well?

I also have a window above my front door, but it's recessed pretty far back, not sure it would get as noticed.

Here is a link to a picture of my house so you can see what I mean. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wolfstone made a FCG stand out of conduit pipe. It's pretty cheap and might allow you to hang the rig closer to the bay window.

I know what you mean about the door - I plan on doing the same thing. Use the opened garage door to your advantage - it'll hide the FCG Rig from site. Stick with the garage plan, just put it further back into the garage.

I have about 1 ft of space between the top of the window and the ceiling of my bedroom. This is the rig I have been using for 3 years. It breaks down nice and is easy to put up. Description under pictures once you click the thumb

Not sure I understand. Do you mean hang the frame back by the garage door opener about 1/2 way back into the garage so essentially the mechanism is equal with the door, so basically invisible?

Exactly.

Lets say your garage has an 8 foot ceiling. When you open your garage door, it rolls up on tracks that are about a foot below the ceiling. So now you have about half your ceiling that is still 8 ft high and the rest with the open door over it that is 7 ft high. Put your FCG in the back half of your garage with the 8 ft ceiling. The one foot difference hides the rig AND usually you'll have an outlet on the celing near the garage door opener - so no cords either!

Other ways to use your garage door mount your black lights to the rails or place them on the open door (like a shelf) - just don't close the door!!! If you have a sensor for your garage door, either unscrew the lights in the opener unit or replace them with recepticles and use them as a trigger. eg - someone breaks the beam by entering the garage and you have it trigger "KEEP OUT" audio loop.

I had the same problem with my garage. I found that the inside of my garage door has little metal brackets on it from which I can hang the rig for my ghost. The overhang of the garage door does a good job hiding the rig, and we built a backdrop out of black cloth and one of those "scene maker" plastic things so it doesn't look like she's hanging in a garage. The only downside is if you want to display her full time, you have to leave your garage open.

Thanks guys. I'm going to experiment this weekend and see what I come up with. Of course it's going to mean clearing out more of the garage then I had planned...
